Supervisor – Aquatic Programs
A regular full-time opening exists in North Vancouver Recreation & Culture for the above position.
This is aquatic leadership work in supervising the provision of aquatic instructional and recreational programs and activities at an Aquatic Centre. The Aquatic Supervisor supervises, schedules and assists in the hiring and training of a moderate sized group of part-time subordinates engaged in instructional and lifeguarding tasks; assists with budget preparation, evaluates and recommends changes to programs of instruction.
Education & Experience:
Considerable knowledge of the theory and practice of lifesaving, lifeguarding, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and first aid. Sound knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and statutes applicable to the operation of aquatic facilities. Ability to plan, assign, supervise, check the work of and train a moderate sized group of aquatic subordinates, conduct performance evaluations, make recommendations regarding discipline and participate in the hiring of same. Ability to schedule, evaluate and recommend changes to instructional and recreational aquatic programs and develop and implement new programs of instruction.
Completion of the 12th grade, supplemented by courses in lifesaving, lifeguarding, aquatics instruction and pool operation and maintenance, plus sound related experience including some supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Licences, Certificates and Registrations
National Lifeguard (Pool Option), Lifesaving Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, CPR C current within 1 year, Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC) or Standard First Aid current within 2 years, and certified I Can Swim Instructor.
This position involves shift work and entails 37.5 hours per week.
All employees should be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
All candidates are required to submit a Police Record Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Clearance requires the absence of any criminal charges or convictions related to this position.
