The City of St. Albert is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to assume the position of Director of Engineering Services. The successful candidate will oversee the efficient, professional and coordinated delivery of municipal engineering services, capital project construction and project management, transportation, oversight of the development engineering function including engineering standards, and City infrastructure asset management/lifecycle programs.
This position serves as a member of the City’s Leadership Team and has responsibility for a large, diverse complement of staff which includes 27 FTEs, 7 term employees, contractors and consultants. As Director, you are responsible for short and long term department planning, stakeholder relationship management and liaison with City Council. You will oversee significant capital and operating budgets. You will lead your team in effectively managing resources to provide high quality, cost-effective public service to St. Albert residents.
This position requires a strategic thinker and problem solver with sound judgment, and the ability to inspire others to perform. The role also requires an individual with strong writing abilities and presentation skills. Well developed interpersonal, communication and influencing skills are essential to success, as a Director must build trusted relationships with their team and at all levels throughout the organization.
HOURS OF WORK
- Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or a Masters in Engineering. Considerable related experience combined with education may be considered as equivalent.
- P. Eng or PL(Eng.) through APEGA or C.E.T through ASET
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.
- Significant related experience in a municipal engineering environment with extensive experience in infrastructure management, personnel and financial management and strategic planning.
- Fully conversant in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
This position works 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday) and receives 1 Earned Day Off per month. There is a requirement for extra and evening hours.
$118,532 to $144,212 per annum. In addition, the City of St. Albert offers a generous and comprehensive flexible benefit package.
