With the approaching retirement of the incumbent, the District of Oak Bay is seeking a Chief Administrative Officer to lead the management team and serve as the principal advisor to Council.
Oak Bay is a stable and attractive residential community of 18,000 in the Greater Victoria area. It offers a full range of educational opportunities up to and including the university level.
The District is looking for a thoughtful and respected leader who will guide the management team while offering the active support that its senior staff needs to be successful. Preferred candidates will be hands-on, detail-oriented productive workers themselves while at the same time having the perspective to plan for the future, along with the flexibility to help department heads deal with non-routine issues as and when they arise.
Candidates must have demonstrated an exceptional ability to provide measured, well-considered advice under pressure in a public setting. Superior communications skills, both oral and written, are essential attributes, as is an in-depth knowledge of municipal finance, land use planning tools, labour relations and board governance principles.
Your application should highlight how your senior executive experience in local government and your academic training have prepared you for a position at this level of responsibility.
