EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – PEACE OFFICER
Woodlands County is currently accepting applications for the position of Peace Officer. This is a newly created, full-time position.
Reporting to the Patrol Services Sergeant, the responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, enforcement of Traffic and other provincial statutes, in addition to Bylaw Enforcement, commercial vehicle enforcement inclusive of monitoring Road Haul Permits & oilfield activity, complaint investigation and Court appearances (as required).
The successful candidate should have:

Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills
-
Knowledge and experience in rural Bylaw Enforcement, Provincial Legislation, Commercial Vehicle Weight Enforcement and Traffic Enforcement.

A minimum of three (3) years current experience directly related to law enforcement in Canada with a background in commercial vehicle enforcement.

Class five (5) driver’s license with minimal demerits supported by a current drivers’ abstract.

Must have completed the PARE or equivalent within six (6) months in less than 4:45.
Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience in Traffic Enforcement, specialized training in Radar/Lidar, Transportation of Dangerous Goods and Weights and Dimensions, prior rural policing experience and experience working with Alberta’s Provincial Statutes.
The successful candidate will work a forty (40) hour work week and must be willing to work shift work including weekends and statutory holidays. Applicants must also successfully complete an RCMP security check and be eligible for appointment as a Community Peace Officer (Level 1 with the Alberta Solicitor Generals Office). Woodlands County offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit plan.
Salary range: $52,000.00 to $62,000.00.
